I WORRY ABOUT MY CHILDREN
Michael Platt contends that legalizing pot is well overdue. (Pot is pure
gold," Dec. 12.) He contends those who do not agree with him are
fearmongers. I do not agree with him. I worry about my children having to
be extra careful when they walk anywhere, when the government we elect
decides to legalize a mind-altering drug. Legalizing it will not change the
fact it is a drug. This will cause problems for all Canadians as time
passes -- especially in health care. The law-abiders in Canada are being
outnumbered by people who have access to the printed word and the "do what
I say, not what I do" officials in Ottawa.

(Possession will still be illegal, just not subject to a jail term.)
