THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE
Being an attorney in Cheboygan, I have read with interest the articles about
your concert-going judge.
Many of the letters mention the Judicial Tenure Commission and I can only
imagine that many individuals hope for action from that body in disciplining
your district judge. To those people I say, "Don't hold your breath."
A guest speaker (at our bar association luncheon) from the Grievance
Commission listened to my complaint of the commission spending thousands of
dollars on pursuing an attorney who called appellate court judges
(profanity), while failing to remove judges from the bench for steering
cases to their lovers, lying to police and engaging in illegal and/or
fraudulent real estate transactions. The speaker responded that the
commission does not take action to remove judges because they are elected
and they do not wish to undo the people's choice.
So, good people of Grand Traverse, start breathing and clean your own house,
as the Judicial Tenure Commission will not. You can voice your opinion by
writing the Judicial Tenure Commission at: P.O. Box 11319, Detroit, MI
48202.
