LET'S USE POT AS LEVERAGE

I have no stake in the legalization of pot but I applaud all such
efforts for one simple reason.

Consider all the United States travellers who would be drawn north
across the border to spend their money on Canadian "produce" and who
would patronize our other businesses. Think of the sleepless nights
that U.S. politicians are now having at the prospect of a "New
Amsterdam" next door to them. Perhaps Canada can use this as leverage
to talk with the U.S. about agreements on softwood lumber, fisheries,
energy and farm subsidies.
