WHAT PROBLEMS?

Re: "Problems with pot," Letter, Dec. 23.

Jean-Pierre Allard alludes to "potentially injurious effects, especially on
youth," yet fails to state what those amorphous injuries might be, nor to
cite supporting documentation. That is because the "injuries" consist
mainly of a little coughing and wheezing. There are no studies which he can
quote which state otherwise.

Then he states that "unlike alcohol" pot-smoking can be practised any time,
any place and inconspicuously. Yet taking a nip from a flask is much more
concealable than rolling a joint and smoking it. Allard states smoking pot
and driving is just as perilous as drinking and driving. I put my faith
more in valid studies than hysterical letters like Allard's, and so should
the rest of us.
