BRITAIN: POT IN EVERY CHICKEN

Scotland Yard said it had foiled an attempt by a friend of a gunman to
smuggle marijuana to him inside a Kentucky Fried Chicken order delivered to
the East London apartment where he and a hostage have been surrounded by
the police for more than a week. Detectives agreed to let the friend send
the food to Eli Hall, 32, as a negotiating tactic, but when they examined
the order they found the drumsticks had been stuffed with cannabis. The
next day, when the friend returned with a new order, the police found more
of the drug and arrested Junior Skerrett, 22, charging him with possession
with intent to sell. The standoff started Dec. 26 after shots were fired
from the apartment at the police as they tried to remove a car. Warren Hoge
