YOUTH AND DRUGS

I want to thank The Eagle for recent editorials regarding youth and their
involvement in drugs and violence (including "Drugs: Clean and sober is a
hopeful trend," Dec. 19 Our View). The editorial board included accurate
information with appropriate admonishments to the youth and the adults in
their lives. I appreciate your assistance in spreading this information.

Sometimes, prevention education and early intervention seem like an
insurmountable obstacle that gets larger every day. The editorial board's
awareness and willingness to bring it to a public forum feels like a
partnership. Maybe the obstacle isn't as big after all.

Again, thank you for responsibly highlighting issues that continue to
plague the health, safety and success of our young people.
