READY FOR RELEASE
TO THE EDITOR:
I've been incarcerated for 14 months for selling an ounce of marijuana.
I've had good conduct and a job for over a year. I'm a first-time,
nonviolent offender, yet few people think I should be released on
commutation and get the help I need. I learned from my mistake. The state
should consider short-time, nonviolent offenders for early release. That
would solve one of the big budget problems.
Derick J. Ginn, Alva
Ginn is an inmate at Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Alva.
