I SAY LEGALIZE POT
In Glenn Reist's Jan. 10 letter, Marijuana Is A Harmful Substance, I think
he has misinterpreted what Kitchener-Waterloo MP Andrew Telegdi said.
Telegdi said it's no more harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. And that's
the point. If the government allows us to smoke and drink, both of which
cause a lot of health problems, then why not something like marijuana?
Yes, marijuana can contain up to three times the amount of tar. And there
is really no absolute proof that I'm aware of that has said it dampens your
motor skills, attention span and judgment. In fact, I find quite the
opposite true: heightened senses, better reactions and a stronger attention
span.
I work on computers and I find when I'm high, I concentrate better. I
problem-solve better.
Unless you can quote credible sources to prove why marijuana is so bad, and
why it seems like it's going to be the downfall of society, I say legalize it.
People should provide points, facts and proof when they slam marijuana. I
am sick and tired of anti-marijuana people not knowing both sides of the story.
The Internet is one place people can see that it is silly to get upset over
this. . And please, check out the Canadian Marijuana Party.
