LEGAL OR ILLEGAL DRUGS?
Re: Legal dope would still wreak havoc. Jan. 26 by Harry Lehotsky. Since we
have no model by which to judge the legalization of hard drugs, it is
presumptuous, at best, to speculate such actions would wreak havoc.
The only western models are Switzerland and Denmark, both of which claim to
be addressing the illegal drug trade realistically.
Both camps, for or against legalization, have equal and valid concerns. The
question then becomes which is more desirable, a government regulated and
controlled version of havoc, or the dangerous, costly, and prohibitive
(read: in denial) havoc we have?
