A 'VISIBLE' MELTON CAN DIRECT THE JOB
When I was age 15 my father taught me a saying that has served me well all
my life: "An organization does well only those things the boss checks."
The boss cannot check things hanging around the office! And the more
visible he is, the better he can check his subordinates.
New Bureau of Narcotics Director Frank Melton is going to scare a lot of
drug dealers out of Jackson just by his presence on the streets.
And someone needs to be checking licenses. Stop at random any 10 vehicles
in Jackson and you will find at least six of them with law violations of
some sort.
I do not care if Melton wants to see my driver's license. Only someone who
does not have one or who is too high and mighty to show it is going to
complain when a man is working for no salary, in a state that is not his
home state, trying to make life better for everyone!
I think Melton looks great in his camos. I wore them in combat in Vietnam
and would have been happy to have him by my side. Only he knows how much he
is doing to get better trained.
He may want to consider coming to Rankin County and asking to ride with
some of our law enforcement officers for training.
After having my car stolen in Jackson, I learned that every day with the
JPD is "casual Friday."
