DON'T DISMISS MARIJUANA'S BENEFITS

Regarding a Jan. 6 Wausau Daily Herald letter to the editor entitled
"Marijuana's medical use overstated," I would like to give you my opinion
on the subject.

I believe that the views expressed by Dr. Vinoo Cameron are not accurate
and are completely untrue. I'll admit that marijuana use does help glaucoma
patients, but it's also a proven fact that in most AIDS and cancer
patients, the medical use of marijuana has helped patients keep their food
down instead of vomiting. When you use marijuana, it reduces your gag
reflex. By using marijuana, AIDS and cancer patients are able to keep food
down and thus are able to live more normal, comfortable lives.

I also disagree that marijuana's medical use is overstated. Let us not
dismiss this miracle drug that has been naturally put on this earth until
we fully understand its medical uses. I also think that antimarijuana
commercials on television are completely false and are a form of false
advertisement. The people who make the commercials have a point, but they
should at least properly advertise the effects of marijuana.

Wausau
