ANTI-MARIJUANA COMMERCIALS

Editor:

As an American citizen, I am absolutely outraged at our drug czar's
decision to waste the taxpayers' hard-earned money on lies. As you may
know, there are several new "anti-marijuana" commercials scheduled to air
before and during the Super Bowl this Sunday.

After looking into the negative story-lines used in these commercials, I
felt that something had to be done. The commercials basically state that
all *responsible* marijuana users get into car wrecks ending in death,
girls have unprotected sex, and a teen uses a gun to kill his friend while
under the influence of marijuana.

Obviously, this are ridiculous. What's even worse is the fact that "the
White House Drug Czar's office is spending more than $4 million dollars
(for the ads)."

I strongly encourage you to look into this further and possibly do a story
on it. Other Americans need to be aware of the money being wasted. As a
matter of fact, it was actually proven that marijuana use increased among
teens after the public service announcements were aired last year.

The bottom line is marijuana is not wrong when used by responsible
individuals. Our government should be more worried about the drugs that are
actually killing people. There has been absolutely no report of any person
dying as a result of the effects of marijuana.

I hope I got my point across clearly. I would definitely recommend visiting
the NORML website (http://www.norml.org/) for more specific information.
