MAKING THINGS WORSE
Dear Sir:
As usual, Provencher MP Vic Toews demonstrates that everything a politician
touches easily turns into excrement. I have always bought my marijuana in
one-ounce increments and I am not going to stop doing so because a stupid
law is replaced by one even more stupid.
Has he considered that by reducing the amount one can legally purchase, the
amount of trafficking will increase in an inversely proportionate manner?
If I am buying 28 grams at a time now (one ounce) and am legislated into
buying in seven-gram increments, all of a sudden my supplier must break the
law four times instead of once.
Limiting the amount of purchase will increase, not decrease trafficking. As
usual the solution he proposes only makes things worse, as is typical of
all drug prohibition laws.
