COPS AND DRUG TESTING

Dear Editor,
In Wednesday's Letter to the Editor Mr. Muse from AZ made a wonderful
statement about the article Cops Undergo Random Drug Testing. I agree, why
are we making a huge deal of this as if they have or had a drug problem, as
I read Cops are clean in Paintsville on the front page!

Yes, every P.D., Law firm, Government and city employees are and should be
drug tested. It just makes me sick to think that this is the only news we
can print about our city's Police Department. How degrading did it make our
City look to others looking in? When we should be saying Thank You for
keeping our city safe so our families can sleep safe and sound each night,
as he or she is patrolling the late night streets at 3 am. Thank you for
giving your time to schools to teach our children about drugs and their
dangers. And thank you for putting your life in danger each day and night
for our city safety.

At this point, I realize the general public may not understand what a
Police Officer goes through, and mostly because we take advantage of the
fact we know if we need them, they will be there. And it's at this time of
need; we realize they are there for us. As the old saying goes, Out of Site
Out of Mind. But please let's not forget each of them are there for us each
day and night to protect and Serve as they are sworn to do. So on this
note, I can only hope to read positive things about our Police Department.
I know Paintville is and always will be a proud City, so let's be proud of
what helps make a good City, our Police Department!
