ADDICTED TO HANDOUTS?

Editor, The News:

If those who are addicted to drugs like heroin, cocaine or marijuana are
entitled to have their addiction satisfied free to them, but paid for by
the taxpayers, as letter writer Gilbert Currie-Johnson advocates ('Least
harm, less cops,' Opinion, Jan. 23), will all other people with other
addictions receive similar treatment?

There are people addicted to substances like chocolate, tobacco, coffee and
alcohol.

Other people are shopping addicts and many, who if not fed regularly, want
food.

Others crave passionate physical experiences (sex).

Are they all to have their cravings and addictions catered to, free, at
taxpayers' expense?

Or are we to pay only for those who crave illegal substances?
