POT ACTIVIST CONVICTED
SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal court jury convicted a pro-marijuana author Ed
Rosenthal, 58, on Friday on charges of growing more than 100 plants -- a
verdict that could land him in prison for 85 years even though California
deems his actions legal. The case pitted U.S. law against California rules
that allow the cultivation and use of the drug for medicinal uses.
"There is no such thing as medical marijuana," said Richard Meyer, a Drug
Enforcement Administration spokesman. "We're Americans first, Californians
second."
