Letter of the Day
DON'T LEGALIZE POT
While reading Lyn Cockburn's Feb. 5 column, Tobacco is legal and pot
demonized: go figure, I realized there is a journalist out there who
makes sense. First off, I couldn't have agreed more. It brings back
old memories of lighting up a doobie in high school with the guys,
although it was almost the reason I was close to not graduating.
I attend university now, and smoking marijuana doesn't appeal to me
anymore. I am a smoker and a social drinker. I don't feel any of these
are morally wrong.
I have younger family members, and the chance they may get into the
habit of taking advantage of our government's stupid decisions doesn't
make me too comfortable. Let's keep marijuana illegal.
One day when I have kids, I'll be able to sleep at night knowing the
convenience store across the street isn't getting my kids high, legally!
