POT SMOKING WON'T MAKE YOUR RESUME

Does Trish Hill (DN, Thursday) think that she should be commended for
"standing up admitting her responsible drug use?" Perhaps she has smoked a
bit too much. Let me say that personally, I am in no position to judge what
people choose to do in their own time. However, when people like Hill wave
their "responsible" banner in between lighting up, I begin to question
their intelligence.

There is nothing responsible about engaging in an illegal activity. Try
telling the judge you were smoking responsibly, or explaining to a
prospective employer that while yes, you use illegal drugs, it's perfectly
OK because you managed to maintain a 3.9 GPA. Or, perhaps you'll have more
success trying to secure a federal student loan with a drug possession
charge on your record.

Give me a break. Understand, I do not support current drug laws.
Nonetheless, we all have to operate with the laws currently in place and
those laws say drugs, including marijuana, are illegal and getting caught
will have serious repercussions, regardless of how "responsible" you are.
