BALD HYPOCRISY
Thank you for publishing a New York Times editorial on the Bush
administration's railroading of Ed Rosenthal ("A mean-spirited war on
marijuana," The Sunday Herald, Feb. 9). Clearly, American medicinal
cannabis users are justified in seeking refugee status in Canada.
Last summer, the Bush administration opposed a treaty that would have made
U.S. soldiers and mercenaries fighting drugs in South America subject to
international human rights law. Why? Because "U.S. soldiers and other
citizens could be subjected to politically motivated prosecutions abroad."
The hypocrisy of the U.S.-led "war on drugs" has become so bald, the lie so
big, you practically have to be outside the U.S. to take it all in.
