JUDICIARY SYSTEM DIFFERENT IN SURREY?
To the editor:
Vancouver police blame a lax judiciary as one of the reasons for the city's
open illegal drug trade ("Drug dealers moving downtown," Feb. 12).
No argument there. The judicial system is so lax generally it has lost the
confidence of the public. Here's the difficult part to understand: In
Surrey, whether one agrees with him or not, the mayor has promised a
"block-by-block" cleanup of its drug problems in partnership with the RCMP.
In Surrey, the judiciary does not seem to be an impediment. Is there a
different judiciary in Surrey than in Vancouver?
