CLINIC CLOSURE GAVE PATIENT HER LIFE BACK
I want to thank you [federal authorities] for closing the Myrtle Beach
Comprehensive Care and Pain Management Center. I wasn't happy when it
happened because I wanted and thought I needed OxyContin just to get
through each day.
I want to thank you for prosecuting doctors who were more concerned with
their bank accounts than my health and well-being. While a patient at the
clinic for seven years, I was treated by all the doctors in question. I
want to thank you for helping me see what true denial really is.
I see that, even now, a few doctors do not get the point. As I remember it,
their true concern was not for what was moral and best for the patient, but
what would keep them from getting caught. There is a difference. I want to
thank you for closing the clinic for prescribing incorrectly and not
because there is anything wrong with OxyContin.
I was prescribed heavy doses for the pain of migraines, typical aches and
pains of aging and stress. Since getting off narcotics, I have not had a
single migraine. I hope to be able to avail myself of appropriate medicines
if I have to suffer the pain of cancer or something equally painful.
My entire family would like to thank you for returning to them their wife,
mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great-aunt. I have received so much
love and support from family and friends that I felt like a prom queen for
a time. It's nice to finally be at peace with myself, and to be able to
remember what I did yesterday.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
