NO RELEVANT ISSUES?
To the editor:
Re: Peterborough area's Catholic school trustees and marijuana laws.
My goodness, here we are, at this time, worrying about a war with Iraq, the
resulting threat to the environment and possible extermination and what are
Catholic school trustees worried about? Marijuana.
If anything, the allowance of marijuana to be accessible readily will
eliminate the prospect of "dealers" in schools.
What's worth dealing when the product can be bought on the open market?
How many students are really going to become hooked on marijuana because
it's now legal? My estimation is none.
This is the world we live in. Those seeking marijuana for medical purposes
are experiencing situations that perhaps Catholic school trustees can't
relate to.
What's really farcical is the fact the government has OK'd medical use of
marijuana but has not changed the laws re: possession and accessibility. So
those people that need it to ease their medical situation are at risk of
arrest for simple possession.
I don't use marijuana for any purpose but who am I to deny someone relief
from pain and discomfort for the reasons of my own preference?
Catholic school trustees, don't you have enough to worry about without
fabricating issues when there are relevant issues presented by our current
provincial government?
