GUNS ADDED TO DRUGS ARE THE PROBLEM

As a regular listener to the BBC World Service, I can report that the main
news bulletins for the last week or so have never failed to carry an item on
the war on drugs.

The BBC has never reported in judgmental fashion but with facts and figures
speaking for themselves.

I have to contrast the current situation with a couple of months ago, when
the government was telling the world in general, and intending visitors in
particular, that it was perfectly safe to come to the kingdom as there was
no such thing as terrorism.

The national problem with drugs is well known but now we are saying that the
country is awash with guns as every drug dealer has one and they are needed
to kill everyone else involved in the trade.

The daily death toll, now officially suppressed, suggests that gun battles
are likely to happen anywhere and at any time, with innocents being caught
up in the crossfire and the police apparently helpless to stop it. What is
this telling the world?
