MAKE AN ARREST, I'LL FEEL BETTER

Your editorial "Break-in revelation should comfort most" did nothing to
comfort this 58-year-old resident. The fact that the victims of these
invasions are "college aged" does nothing to comfort me. The fact that I am
not a drug dealer does nothing to comfort me. The fact is that there have
been multiple home invasions, some of which have resulted in citizens being
shot in their homes. What would comfort me is to read in your paper that
those committing these crimes were arrested.

Your assertion that "most Chico residents can rest easily. If you are you
are not growing marijuana you probably do not have to worry" is
irresponsible at best. If those committing home invasions can get away with
this what is to stop them from moving on to us older residents. I for one
would hope that most Chico residents will not rest easily while armed home
invasions are going on around them, no matter who the victims are.

I am disappointed that a paper of your stature would even consider writing
this editorial. If any citizen cannot feel safe in his own home all should
be concerned.

History is filled with examples of people doing nothing about criminal
actions because they were being committed against others, not us. I am not
comforted, nor should the editor of a responsible newspaper be comforted,
until those who are committing these crimes are arrested.
