DRUGS, ALCOHOL AFFECT CHILDREN IN WOMB

I understand the seriousness of the disease Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder. No child should have to live with those problems.

But what really boggles my mind is the gall and ignorance of someone saying
they "didn't know drugs and alcohol would harm" their unborn child.

Please give the public a break!

For many, many years, the people of America have been warned by every media
type, medical professionals, even friends and family of the dangers of
drugs and alcohol in our system.

Doesn't a pregnant woman realize that what is in her system also goes into
her unborn child's system? It affects your baby the way it affects you.

And why bring another child into the world if drinking and drugs are all
that keep you going?

As a parent of four grown kids and as a former pediatric nurse, I can
sympathize with the children and the medical issues they face.

But I have absolutely sympathy for the parents who created the problems for
their child.

My advice to women and girls who become pregnant and don't think: Grow up!
