THE DRUG-FREE BATTLE

I just wanted to write in response to the very negative feedback printed in
the March 18 feedback section about the former heroin addict.

I am a mother of three, married and have little in common with Tonya
Turner, featured in the March 16-18 Daily Press articles. I do, however,
empathize with her situation. I have seen firsthand the terrible results of
drug use and the effects, short and long term, on an addict's family.

I am thrilled to have a local paper willing to publish a true account of
one person's struggle, along with her success.

I eagerly awaited the finish to her story. Bravo, Daily Press, thank you
for publishing this story. This woman has this wonderful series of articles
to look back on when and if her cravings for drugs surface. Maybe in some
small way, this will help her keep her promise to lead a drug-free life and
take care of her kids.

I say congratulations, Tonya Turner, and keep up the good work. With the
help of your family and God, may you never have to fight a losing battle
with drug use again.
