LIBERTARIANS TO HOLD CONVENTION IN JUNEAU
JUNEAU - Marijuana reform will be a major topic tackled at this year's
Alaska Libertarian Party convention, being held Saturday in the Douglas
Conference Room at the Prospector Hotel.
Rob Kampia, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project, will give a
lecture at 6 p.m. about the national efforts to reform marijuana laws. MPP
is a national organization based in Washington, D.C., that has been active
in challenging government policy toward marijuana.
Kampia will present MPP's strategy for the 2003-04 election cycle,
including its work in the state legislatures and Congress, as well as the
presidential primary in New Hampshire. MPP also is seeking to hire a
campaign manager for Alaska.
The Alaska Libertarian Party Convention begins with a business session at
10 a.m. Saturday and is open to everyone, although voting on party business
is restricted to those willing to join the party. For more information,
