LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

Otherwise law-abiding Americans are being punished for growing a
politically incorrect plant ("500 pot plants found at scene of house
fire," March 13). Police and criminal justice resources should focus
on serious crimes.

Marijuana was improperly classified by federal law in 1937 for
political reasons alone. Why are we not free to smoke pot, or grow
cannabis or hemp for its industrial fiber? We need a common sense
policy that includes legalization and regulation of marijuana.
