FIVE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CITED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Five students at Mountain View High School have been cited in recent weeks
for drug possession, including one student who allegedly stashed a bag of
heroin in his shoe, according to Mountain View police. All the students
were cited and released.

* On March 20, school staff members found small bags of cocaine in the
backpacks of two 16-year-old female students.

* On March 26, staff members found a small bag of cocaine when they
searched a 14-year-old female student.

* On April 1, staff members found a small bag of heroin in the shoe of a
17-year-old male student.

* On April 4, staff members found two small bags of marijuana when they
searched a 17-year-old male student.

All the students, who were not identified because of their ages, were cited
for possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Police said they have not often found heroin at the high school, but
investigators do not believe the recent drug cases pointed to any larger
problem or criminal pattern at the school.
