HELP STOP DRUG ABUSE
Less than two weeks ago, I was horrified to learn of a methamphetamine lab
discovered in a truck in Carlsbad. At the time I thought it was an isolated
incident in the neighborhood. Now I read that a La Costa homeowner is not
only growing pot but has other drugs as well, including methamphetamine.
Many drug stories don't make the papers, but the impacts they are having on
our communities are serious. In the pot-growing case, detectives received an
anonymous tip. If they had not, the guns and drugs would still be in my
neighborhood.
I hope that Carlsbad residents will be shocked into action and keep a watch
out for drug activity. This menace of illegal drugs infiltrating into our
neighborhoods is something we all can help prevent. Begin by getting tips on
how to recognize suspicious activity at www.NO2METH.org. You can be the
anonymous caller who saves your neighborhood from this threat by calling
1-877NO2METH. If you have a homeowners association or Neighborhood Watch,
make this number available to participants.
Illegal drug activity can destroy individuals, families and communities.
Let's make sure it does not happen in Carlsbad.
