CANNABIS CAN LEAD TO MENTAL DISORDERS
IN RESPONSE to M.A. Landgren (Letters, 23/4), while I agree that use of
cannabis can lead to mental disorders, I disagree with the statements about
cannabis being addictive and also the effect it has on users.
The teenagers who become abusive, loud and foul-mouthed are usually
influenced by their peers and were probably that way inclined in the first
place. For example, as a stereotype, many hippies are portrayed as
smoking marijuana, even if they don't. But we still think of them as
pleasant, calm and down-to-earth, not abusive or psychotic. So before you
make a claim about the effects a chemical may have on someone, look at that
person first.
