LET'S GET TOUGHER
ONE of the furphies bandied around in the debate over changes to cannabis
laws is that because many people have used cannabis the law should be
changed. I suggest that every driver has broken the speed limit or gone
through a stop sign. Does this mean we should go easy on motorists who break
the road rules? No, it means we should get tougher and that is what we
should be doing with drug laws - not slacken off.
This is particularly true for those who supply drugs to youngsters. For them
there should be additional penalties. The young are being sent entirely the
wrong message by a Government that cares more for the forests than for the
minds of our youth.
