POT SOLUTION
In her April 28 column, What a drag, it's harmless fun, Linda Williamson
draws attention to what, for me, is the central issue: Consenting adults
should have the right to do as they wish with their own bodies, without
fear of legal repercussions.
As Ms. Williamson points out, the current plan for decriminalization will
NOT remove the criminal elements currently occupying the top echelons of
the pot trade. Let's have this in big, easy to read type: PROHIBITION
DOESN'T WORK.
The problems with marijuana use seems to rest solely on the criminal
elements at the top of the supply chain. Let us then remove them by
legalizing marijuana, and placing supply and distribution in the hands of
legal enterprise, either by licensing growers and sellers, or by placing
marijuana in the same classification as alcohol, and regulating its use
under the various provincial liquor commissions.
