WE SHOULD NOT RELAX THE LAW FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION
Before Canadians say yes to pot, maybe they should consider what the effect
will be to the healthcare system, the same way tobacco and alcohol affect
it. As a health-care professional, I have seen the damage first-hand from
tobacco and alcohol to people's health. Marijuana is no different. Yes, it
has some medicinal use in AIDS and chemotherapy and chronic pain but not
for recreational use. We should not relax the law for illegal possession.
The mentality that everything is OK as long as it does not bother anyone
else is hogwash. Your health is your life. If you want to smoke, be
prepared to pay the price. Why should society suffer because of your
choice? It is time to be responsible.
