DARE PROGRAM GOING WHERE IT IS NEEDED
As is sometimes the case, big schools in big cities are targeted more often
for programs which can have a positive impact on our youth.
Schools in rural areas, especially in areas some people would refer to as a
little remote like Hays, can often get left out.
That's why it's good to see the Taber/Vauxhall RCMP take an interest in
students at the school. Drug and alcohol problems can also exist in some of
Canada's smaller schools, and that's often forgotten. Any program which can
offer positive stimuli to children in grades 5 and 6 should be welcomed.
Children at any can can benefit from having these types of messages drilled
into them.
Other small communities in the M.D. of Taber such as Vauxhall, Barnwell and
Grassy Lake also have the DARE program in their local schools. As such, the
local detachment of the RCMP has to be commended for its dedication to youth.
