IDEAS EXCHANGED

A sportier than usual police car, donated by General Motors dealer
George Preston to help local police bring the "Say No to Drugs"
message to Langley schools, attracted the attention of Brazilian
members of a Rotary exchange program.

Sao Paulo police officer Antero Alves Baraldo, consulting with Langley
RCMP officer Scott, and Luciana de Barros Cunha, a public relations
officer for General Motors, Brazil, were particularly interested in
how the program might be applied to their home.

The Rotary Group Study Exchange brings together teams of young
businessmen and professionals from throughout the world to exchange
cultures and economic concepts.

Rotary District 5050, which includes about 50 Rotary clubs in the
Fraser Valley on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border, recently
concluded exchanges with three such teams from Brazil and Argentina.

Vocational exchanges, including visits to host Rotarians' businesses,
are an integral part of the overall program.

Among future exchanges planned by District 5050 is one with South
Africa.
