The federal government said it will decriminalize small amounts of marijuana.

Langley MP Randy White and B.C.'s Solicitor General Rich Colemen both
blasted the plan, claiming the federal Liberals have not thought the plan
through.

Both were concerned about the limits set for minor possession and how to
enforce collection of fines. They were also concerned about how the
anti-drug White House might react to Canada's new position.

Marijuana advocates want it legalized, not decriminalized. They feel
decriminalization does not address harmful aspects of the illegal drug trade.
