REGIONAL DRUG STRATEGY
The May 8 article "Suburban cash, Detroit drugs" served as an eye-opener to
everyone who has a stake in the future of southeast Michigan. The story
illustrated the stark reality of the illegal drug trade and its negative
impact on our entire region.
Research shows that alcohol and other drug abuse are underlying factors in
unemployment, poverty, crime, violence and domestic abuse.
We must continue to join forces to prevent the death and destruction that
drugs bring to our communities, neighborhoods and families. No city or
suburb is immune. A call for stronger regional support of drug prevention
will help everyone. It's time to close the door on drugs.
