EDITOR'S VIEW DEFIES COMMON SENSE

In Adrian Spiering's letter (May 13) he makes a common sense argument for
the legalization of pot that is right on the money, but your editor's
answer states that legalization would lead to a whole new set of problems.
I am wondering what those problems could be? Perhaps unemployed lawyers is
a concern to the editor? Or a court system not jammed up with honest people
who prefer pot to alcohol? Schoolchildren not being able to purchase it on
the street? Or perhaps having our jails only partially full alarms him. I
would dearly love your editor to say just what problems are so scary that
keeping the gangs' money-making machine working at full capacity is the
only way to go. Your editor's view defies common sense.

(You think all the gangs would just disappear with legalization? What
really defies common sense is the feds' half-baked decriminalization)
