EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT MARIJUANA CAN BE MEDICINE

Jeffrey A. Schaler claims "medical marijuana advocates hide behind sick
people to get marijuana without penalty in order to get high" and should
take "an honest and principled stand" for the repeal of drug prohibition in
its entirety.

I also favor the repeal of drug prohibition in its entirety. But Mr.
Schaler has no basis to argue that marijuana is not needed as medicine, or
that advocates of medical marijuana must favor its legalization for
non-medical purposes.

And even advocates of medical marijuana whose true goal is repeal of
prohibition are justified in using a strategy that is necessary in our
situation.

A partial victory is better than none.
