JUDGES PUSH LAW
Re: "Alberta fears law will raise drug use," May 28.
Those political-minded souls offended by softening drug laws in Canada
should not blame the government. Had decriminalization not been introduced,
marijuana would be legal to possess, cultivate and traffic. The Ontario
Superior Court, as well as other provinces, legalized possession of all
amounts last week with the Supreme Court of Canada expected to follow suit.
Justice Steven Rogin said he would have dismissed a trafficking or
cultivation charge just as easily as he did the possession charge brought
forth to him.
