Readers Are Fuming About Proposed Marijuana Legislation

The proposed legislation about marijuana is incredibly stupid. What
special interest group is behind this?

Health Minister Anne McCllellan says, "We don't want Canadians to
smoke pot." What a joke. You are going to see more and more people of
all ages openly smoking pot. Unfortunately, most of these will be
teenagers and young adults. Motor vehicle accidents will be caused by
impaired smokers who think they can drive just as safely even though
they are stoned. How will the police measure how impaired a driver who
has been smoking marijuana is?

As if severe acute respiratory syndrome, mad cow disease and West Nile
virus were not enough, now Canada has a loose marijuana law. The first
three deterrents to tourism weren't our fault, but this freeing up of
marijuana possession will not make us attractive to families who want
to visit Canada. The people it will attract are the undesirable ones.?
I still can't get over how stupid and undemocratic the government is.
