POT POSSESSION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
FROM WHAT I can comprehend, the main reason for the proposed
"decriminalization" of marijuana is so young people will not always have to
carry a criminal record for a stupid act 40 years earlier. While I feel
strongly that pot should not be legal in any form, I do agree with clemency
for those who made one mistake years earlier. Here is what I propose. Stiff
fines for possession of five grams or less - a couple joints. The person is
prosecuted and fined a minimum $1,000 and has it on their record for a
minimum of three to five years. If there are no other offences, the person
is given a clean record while still getting the message that pot possession
will not be tolerated.

(That's another alternative.)
