DRUG USE IS GOOD
Dear Editor:
Why does society allow the use of dangerous drugs like alcohol and tobacco
while simultaneously reacting hysterically to marijuana?
Marijuana is by far less harmful than either of the aforementioned.
Prohibition has only flooded the streets with weed. Access to pot,
especially by young people, is at an "all time high" because of it.
Decriminalization of drugs will prevent drug trafficking by diminishing the
enormous profits to be made by such activity. It is time to end the
stigmatization of marijuana, and of marijuana users.
Canada decided long ago that the state had no place in the bedrooms of
Canadians, so why should it in their basements?
If one's action aren't harming anyone else, then we should mind our own
business. And please, spare me the accusation of "harm" as defined by
placing unnecessary strain on our health-care system. I'll accept that when
it's illegal to be over weight.
