MARIJUANA JUSTICE

I asked my 11-year-old what he thought a fair trial entailed and was told,
that's when you get in trouble, and the bailiff says do you swear to tell
the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God, and
then the jury says guilty or not guilty.

In a nutshell, that is what I thought also. But now, in the wake of the
illegal conviction of Rosenthal, this country has to pass a law (HR 1717 --
Truth in Trials Act) that allows medical marijuana users to tell all the
truth in the event that they find themselves in federal court.

This is disgraceful that we in fact have to pass a law that allows for a
person to tell the whole truth. How do we explain that to our kids?
Sometimes you have to tell the truth and sometimes you are not allowed to
tell the truth? This country is supposed to be founded on truth and right,
not lies and might.
