MARIJUANA MAN'S CRIME AND CONVICTION

In his June 5 news story, "1 Jail Day for Marijuana Felony," Rene Sanchez
failed to report that, in addition to the one-day sentence, Ed Rosenthal
also was fined $1,300 and sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

Having to submit to probation for three years is not an insignificant
punishment. Mr. Rosenthal will have to disclose his income and finances,
report monthly to a probation officer, and allow visits at home or work at
any time by probation officers. He can receive additional punishments if he
violates the terms of his probation.

The felony conviction will remain on his record even after probation. No
wonder he said of the judge, "He did me no favor."
