FIGHT CRIME

Recent TV news has shown residential complaints from the Charleston Farms
community of North Charleston. The residents should stop "whimpering" about
the criminal activity in their community and do something constructive
about it.

Richland and Lexington counties have "take back our streets" programs where
residents walk their neighborhoods observing activity, recording it and
passing the information to law enforcement.

It is common knowledge that drug dealers are people of low self-esteem who
had little or no responsible adult supervision while they were growing up
and who are going through life as losers without responsible, honest
employment. They usually have little education and no ambition. They are
cowards who hide in groups and behind guns.

Charleston Farms residents need to honor the Crime Watch signs posted in
their neighborhood and walk their streets, taking down license tags, type
of vehicle and its occupants, and the type of observed activity. Use
disposable cameras and take pictures. Do all that you can to discourage
unwanted activity.

Stop expecting North Charleston Police Department to do your job. They do
not have time or resources to baby-sit one community. That simply is an
unreasonable expectation.

Don't just have community meetings and complain. Do something positive for
your community to discourage unwanted activity.
