COOPER FIRES UP POT ADVOCATES
Letter-writer Robert Cooper seems to be having problems with reality himself
in his letter of June 12, "Liberals never cease to amaze," in which he takes
previous letter-writer Stan White to task for advocating the end of
marijuana prohibition.
Ending cannabis prohibition is something that has support from the entire
political spectrum including prominent conservatives like William F. Buckley
Jr., former secretary of state George Schulz, Nobel-winning economist Milton
Friedman and the libertarian CATO Institute, to name a few.
Medical marijuana has the support of ex-Reagan presidential aides Lyn
Nofziger, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), with
Nofziger lending his support to the bipartisan States' Rights to Medical
Marijuana Act (HR 2233 this session) sponsored by Paul, Rohrabacher and Rep.
Barney Frank (D-Mass.).
It is evil to gut our Constitution and Bill of Rights and take away
everyone's civil liberties because the federal government is afraid of a
God-given medicinal herb.
Cooper may not care, but his civil liberties are being reduced along with
everyone else's, and if that doesn't smack of the same kind of evil Hitler,
Mussolini and Stalin foisted upon their own people, what does?
