POLICE SEEK HELP IN FINDING OUTDOOR GROW OPs

Summer weather that can edge into the 40 Cs and an abundance of
Crown land, make the Sea-to-Sky corridor ideal for outdoor marijuana
grow operations.

The Sea-to-Sky Regional Police Service, which covers the corridor and
Bowen Island, is asking outdoor recreation fans and local pilots to
keep an eye out for patches of the illegal greenery.

According to a release issued by Cpl. Paul Vadik of the Pemberton
detachment, significant quantities of drugs are destroyed every year
as a result of tips from the public.

Police are encouraging people who come across outdoor grow ops this
summer to report any GPS locations to the closest detachment in the
area or forward their information to Crime Stoppers.

According to Cpl. Vadik, outdoor grow sites are usually large in scale
and linked to organized crime.

Members of the Sea to Sky Police Service, in partnership with RCMP Air
Services, and the Stl'atl'imx Tribal Police will be patrolling remote
areas in an effort to curb this illegal activity.
