COLEMAN DOESN'T KNOW COSTS FROM SAVINGS
Solicitor-General Rich Coleman says the federal government has used money
that could have been dedicated to crime fighting on decriminalizing
marijuana ("Organized crime ignored by Ottawa," June 26). How hilarious.
The marijuana law reform will save the federal government hundreds of
millions of dollars spent on enforcement of pot laws, and earn fine
revenues not collected under the current law, money that will be available
to fight organized crime. In other words, financial savings are being
described by Coleman as financial costs!
Maybe this kind of accounting lies at the heart of the provincial
government's disastrous fiscal problems. Maybe they just don't know the
difference between costs and revenues.
